This was my entry for the Lord of the Rings single miniature Category at Golden Demon U.K 2005, which made the cut, but didn't place in the top 3.
I searched for a long time to find the correct miniature for the competition, the orginal idea was the mouth of Sauron on horse, but i changed my idea to goldberry who in my eyes was a very beautiful miniature, because of the simple sculpt and because it had an unconventional look for a Lord of the Rings miniature.
After reading throught the book a few times and studying all of the information given about Goldberry (not much) i came up with the colourscheme.
Here is a short passage from the book that i used in deciding the colourscheme:-
"In a Chair, at the far side of the room facing the outer door, sat a woman. Her long yellow hair rippled down her shoulders; her gown was green, green as young reeds, shot with silver like beads of dew; and her belt was of gold, shaped like a chain of flag-lilies set with the pale blue eyes of forget-me-nots. About her feet in wide vessels of green and brown earthenware, white water-lilies were floating, so that she seemed to be enthroned in the midst of a pool."
I used this to create the look as much as possible, for this reason i painted her dress the same colour as the reeds, and kept the jewelerly the correct colour, i decided to put her at the edge of a river (presumably just outside her house) in the night with the candle lighting her up, i also sculpted and painted a white water-lilie flower to float in the water but i decided not to add it because it drew far too much attention anway from Goldberry.
I have added pictures with 2 different kinds of backgrounds, the first with a more natural light, and the second "dark" version, of how i imagined her in the scene by the river.
This Miniature is on display at Games Workshop Leicester at the moment.
