Marneus Calgar was the first miniature painted for the squad, no conversion work was done since i didn't orginally intend to enter him into any competitions, i went for nmm on him because i just couldn't see the effect of real metallics working on him, this was a very bad choice as regards Golden Demon, but i'm still happy that's the way i did it.
Over time many people have commented on his cloak, which for me was the one piece of the mini i was really proud of, i at first had the idea of doing freehand covering the cloak in varying shades of beige and creme, but after looking at Celtic patterns i came up with this design and went for a dark blue and gold colourscheme over the top of the cream cloak. The gold colour was made by starting with scorched brown, and adding bubonic brown to it untill it was almost pure bubonic brown (not quite though), this mix was then highlighted up to skull white. A rough guess is that i spent about 50 hours painting this mini, (about 10 of that on the cloak itself.)
