I went for very dark tones on this mini, i tried to get as much contrast into the skin whilst still keeping it looking realistic and not cartoony, but i'm not sure how well i have done that. The main colour for the Slann was inspired by colours of real frogs, we often see brightly coloured Slanns inspired by tropical poisonous frogs (which also look great), but in trying to create a dark and realistic look i didn't think that would fit very well.
The horns were painted by basecoating them with kommando khaki (over a codex grey basecoat, because kommando khaki is so thin and gives very poor cover), i then added equal amounts of scorched brown and chaos black to the kommando khaki and freehand painted the "grooves" into the horns, as i added more and more brown and black to the mix i painted finer lines into the grooves, getting further and further to the base. Then to finish, on the cream parts between the grooves, i added a thin watered down line of bleached bone for a highlight.
