Broken Blade Studios - Miniature art by Golden Demon winner Joseph Tomaszewski

This is one of the great new sculpts for the space marines and i felt i'd give it a go. I went with quite simple highlighting for the black, and spent a long time painting the scrolls (using a mix of bleached bone, scorched brown and chaos black, highlighted up to bleached bone and then up to pure skull white on the very edges) i decided on giving him blue glowing eyes to just give the model a little more personality. This was another test with real metallics, for the gold i started by painting shining gold over a mithril silver basecoat, highlighted it up to pure mithril silver on the edges and then lined all of the recesses with a mix of scorched brown and chaos black.
