Broken Blade Studios - Miniature art by Golden Demon winner Joseph Tomaszewski

For this squad i had to go for Ultramarines, i have always loved them and this squad really did look like an ultramarine squad in my eyes, looking back at them, i almost wish i hadnt have gone for nmm on them, there are some parts that look better in nmm, but some parts (like the scratches, that i feel can only be done properly when using real metallics, i went for a fair bit of freehand on these gus, i think they all feature at least some freehand, but particularly the standard and the commander.

The display base was made by adding pink insulation foam to a plinth, and covering most of it with sand and broken slate, this enabled me to "hide" the bases in the diorama and create the effect they are all in the scene raher than being seperate pieces.
